Baltimore Christian School

Baltimore Christian School (BCS) offers an outstanding, affordable, Christ-centered educational alternative for children in Pen Lucy and other inner city Baltimore neighborhoods where an excellent education is otherwise unavailable. Established in 1993, the school strives to

  • provide a curriculum of academic excellence which motivates and dignifies,
  • develop Christian character and patterns of success in its students, and
  • celebrate cultural diversity and the power of Christ to reconcile people of diverse racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The success of these efforts is measured in the lives of the children. BCS helps children build an academic and spiritual foundation which will significantly impact academic achievement, school completion, access to opportunities for higher education and fulfilling employment, commitment to Christ, commitment to family, and commitment to being salt and light locally and globally.

The Baltimore City Public Schools spend about $8,315 per child each year. In contrast, a year's education at BCS will cost only $3,100 per child. BCS serves families from all socioeconomic groups. Tuition is on a sliding scale based on a family's ability to pay and no child is turned away due to lack of funds. Average tuition is $963 per child. The difference between tuition received and the true cost of education is made up through donations from FCF members, FCF alumni, and other individuals, churches, foundations, and corporations seeking to help BCS build firm foundations to support an extraordinary future for the children of inner city Baltimore.
