Come, let us bow down
in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Psalm
95:6
Worship is the central and supreme activity
of believers to God. As the high point of our week, FCF seeks a service
that will accomplish these goals:
Glorify God
Worship is giving God what He is due. We offer
Him our praise, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and power. True
worship is not passive or spectator-oriented but is an active, wholly
engaging, dynamic service where participants bring their very best offerings
to God. We expect believers to come ready to give God what He is due. Revelation 5:11,12; Psalm 29; Psalm 115:1
Center on Christ
We can only approach God through the sacrifice
and mediation of His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus' atoning sacrifice on our
behalf and His constant intercession for us allow us to boldly approach
God as our Father. In worship we celebrate this love of Jesus Christ.
We must take care to ensure that all our worship comes under the scrutiny
of God's Word as we depend on the Holy Spirit to guide us, for God seeks
worshippers who worship Him in spirit and truth. To worship God in truth
not only demands Biblical conformity in the service but also fully committed
lives throughout the week.
Revelation 5; Hebrews 9:11-14; Hebrews
10:19-22; John 4:2
Edify Believers
We seek to create an atmosphere where people
can meet God and give Him glory. This involves the process of becoming
intimate with God. This demands that worshippers understand the beauty
and character of God and receive consistent instruction in order to avoid
mindless ritualism. As we bring God authentic worship He will comfort,
convict, strengthen, and encourage His people in their relationship and
obedience to Him. 1 Corinthians 14; Psalm 42; Psalm 29
Welcome Visitors
True worship is evangelistic and invites
outsiders to experience a heavenly moment. We want visitors to see the
power and presence of God as they witness believers wholly engaged in
authentic, joyful worship, see transformed lives, hear God's word expounded
in meaningful terms, and witness the reconciliation of diverse people
worshipping in unity. We want visitors to find that regardless of one's
race or social status, God extends, through His body, a warm welcome to
become part of His fellowship. Acts 2; 1 Corinthains 14:24,25; Matthew
11:28-30
