Women’s Committee

“Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.” —Titus 2:3-5

Under the leadership of the session, the women'd committee exists to equip more women to encourage and counsel other women, who would then he able to leach others to do the same. The committee seeks to address these objectives through activities like these:

  • Seeking to encourage and facilitate mentoring relationships for women who have requested them
  • Organizing an annual women's retreat
  • Planning and teaching occassional Christian education classes gewared to women
  • Organizing a series of monthly "Woman to Woman" discussion sessions for women in various life situations, as well as an Advent Prayer Breakfast
  • Maintaining a liason with the Women's Diaconal Committee to address particular domestic needs of FCF families in difficult circumstances
  • Maintaining links to PCA's Women in the Church (WIC)
  • Seeking as a committee to discern the various needs for nurturing, how they may best be met, and how women can be equipped to affirm and encourage other women in using their spiritual gifts

Fellowship for Women at FCF
The primary context for fellowship for women at FCF is the covenant group. The Women's Committee encourages covenant groups to...

  • regularly divide into gender groups for sharing and prayer,
  • encourage same-gender prayer partnerships and accountability relationships, and
  • develop female leadership to oversee regular encouragement and nurturing of women in the covenant group.

Women’s Class
Usually once a year, FCF's adult Christian education opportunities include a series of Sundays geared toward gender-specific topics. Recent classes have included "Gifted to Serve," which focused on discovering and using our spiritual gifts, and "Truly the Community," which emphasized the community nature of the Christian life.

Mentoring Relationships
For those women at FCF who desire them, mentoring relationships can be arranged between older and younger Christian women. The women's committee helps facilitate and coordinate these mentoring relationships.
